Research and development is supported by private funding and by grants from the National Institutes of Health (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services), including the National Cancer Institute, the National Heart, Lung & Blood Institute, the National Institute of Child Health & Human Development, and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. Founded in 1994, we are based in Washington, DC, with consultants and contributors throughout the United States.
