Massive food shortages threaten an overpopulated Earth. Fortunately, an icy comet has struck Mars, rendering it suitable for colonization and farming. In teams or individually, students explore Mars, settle, build and grow food and ultimately ship it back to Earth.

The simulation asks kids to balance daily food choices and create meals from a 300 product database. As they play the game, students learn about nutrition, problem-solving, percentages, graph-reading, economics, resource management and more. They’ll even read nutrition labels to find just the right food-cure to fend off attacking mutants.

Home and school versions (with lesson plans, etc.) are available. We found the game very compelling — similar to the Maxis SimCity games (although far less complex). Meets national and state standards for health education.
